Per a vote by Holyoke Gas & Electric (HG&E) Commission at their November meeting, HG&E customers will receive an additional 10% prompt payment discount* on energy services billed during the December billing cycle. Commissioners Francis J. Hoey, III, Robert H. Griffin, and James A. Sutter unanimously approved the discount that applies to commercial and residential gas and electric customers who are not already participating in an economic development discount program.
“HG&E customers already enjoy some of the lowest utility rates in the region and for over a decade, HG&E has been pleased to offer our customers an additional discount during the holiday season,” said HG&E Manager James Lavelle. “It’s just another benefit of having a locally-owned public power utility.”
For the average homeowner who is an electric customer and heats with natural gas the discount amounts to an additional savings of approximately $25 on their December 2013 bill. HG&E has implemented a holiday discount each year since 1992.
“All of us at HG&E offer best wishes for a warm and bright holiday season,” said Lavelle.
Established in 1902, HG&E is a locally-owned and operated municipal utility that has built a reputation of providing, safe, reliable and affordable gas, electric, and telecommunications services to over 18,000 business and residential customers in Holyoke and Southampton.
*This discount does not apply to customers who are participating in an economic development incentive offer. Economic development incentives include First-Time Homeowner Program, Economic Development Discount Program, and Contract Rate customers. Bills must be paid by discount date to receive discounts.
