HG&E's mission is to provide competitive rates, innovative and sustainable energy solutions, reliable service, and excellent customer care.
Competitive Energy Rates
HG&E works tirelessly to keep utility bills at some of the lowest rates in New England. Each month, residential rate comparisons are published in Energy Insights, HG&E's newsletter. For commercial accounts, we offer a variety of options in order to meet the needs of each customer.
Innovative & Sustainable Energy Solutions
We pride ourselves in our ability to conserve and protect the environment, while reducing the overall carbon footprint of our community. Through energy production projects, such as solar and hydro, over 65% of electricity sold by HG&E is produced from local renewable resources and over 90% of electricity sold is carbon-free. HG&E’s Energy Mix far exceeds the Commonwealth’s renewable portfolio standard requirements for utilities.
In 2019, HG&E was awarded the Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from the American Public Power Association for demonstrating commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation, and environmental initiatives that support a goal of providing low-cost, quality, safe, and reliable electric service.
HG&E offers aggressive energy conservation assistance programs, providing customers an ability to reduce energy consumption through a variety of measures such as: interest-free assistance, rebates, energy education, economic development and first-time homebuyer discounts, energy audits, and much more.
Reliable Service
HG&E's Electric Division was awarded the prestigious Diamond designation through American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Reliable Public Power Provider Award (RP3). APPA’s RP3 program recognizes utilities that demonstrate high proficiency in four areas: reliability, safety, work force development, and system improvement. In addition, HG&E is the recipient of the Smart Energy Provider Award from the American Public Power Association for demonstrating commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation, and environmental initiatives that support a goal of providing low-cost, quality, safe, and reliable electric service.
The Gas Division operates a distribution system of over 175 miles of gas mains and services. Continuous system upgrades allow for increased home and business gas delivery reliability. In 2020, the American Public Gas Association (APGA) presented Holyoke Gas & Electric (HG&E) with the prestigious APGA System Operational Achievement Recognition (SOAR) for excellence in operating its natural gas utility. The Gas Division also offers (a fee based) 24-hour emergency service of natural gas powered equipment with exceptional care.
Since 1996, HG&E’s Telecommunication Division has provided customers the most reliable, secure, and scalable internet and phone service in the region, backed by 24-hour local customer support.
